Amanda M.

Originally from Alice, Texas, Amanda went to school at Texas A&M University- College Station and is now a registered dietitian at Fresenius Kidney Care, working toward a Master’s in Nutritional Science and Dietetics.

Amy H.

Amy is a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina. She has been dancing since the age of 3, with a strong focus on tap, ballet, jazz and contemporary. She was a member of the premier youth tap group, the North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble, for seven years, performing, regionally  in the styles of rhythm tap, hoofin’, and soft shoe. At 16, Amy was selected to join the folk music group, The Squirrel Nut Zippers’, national tour as a tapper. That same year, after winning both local and regional interview and talent competitions, Amy was named Teen Miss North Carolina. In 2005, Amy became a member of the Varsity Dance Team at UNC-Chapel Hill, and an artistic director of the university’s performance group, Carolina Style Dance Company. Amy currently works in the San Antonio Spurs’ Marketing Partnership department, and has trained and taught dance throughout San Antonio.

Favorite Move: Parallel with your legs glued together (feel like it makes you really engage your core—for balance, your legs and your inner thighs. It also creeps up on you, which provides a nice challenge).

Favorite Cue: “Pull up through your core, chest and all the way through the top of your head”.

Ashley C.

Ashley moved to San Antonio from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where she grew up practicing tap, jazz, ballet and modern. After dancing competitively until college, she then minored in dance at St. Gregory’s University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Ashley was thrilled to find Smart Barre, a powerful workout complimented by ballet technique, and became an instructor in 2018.

Favorite Move: Wide Second Plié.

Brittany T. | Master Trainer

Brittany has a background in dance and fitness. She is passionate about being active, fit, and healthy. She loves everything about the Smart Barre method, so much so that she chose to undergo an extensive training process to become Smart Barre’s Master Trainer in San Antonio. With this designation, Brittany is able to help her clients fully realize their fitness goals as well as shaping fresh instructor talent to reach their best seasonality.

Caroline F. | Master Trainer

When Caroline moved back home to San Antonio from NYC, she was looking for a fitness outlet that filled the void that performing and dancing professionally left behind. She found Smart Barre in the fall of 2013 and has never looked back! When she isn’t teaching or taking class, Caroline loves to travel, try new recipes, a good glass of wine with girl friends, and exploring outside with her husband and puppy.

Favorite Move: Clamshell

Dianna D.

Dianna moved to San Antonio from Orange County, CA in 2016 where she spent about 10 years competitively dancing. She was team captain of her studio team, HBP Dance Extreme, a member of Foothill High School Varsity Dance, as well as a member of the national dance Company representing LA Dance Magic. Dianna attended Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles where she received her degree in accounting in 2014 and shortly after obtained a CPA license. After leaving her dance career behind, Dianna quickly fell in love with Smart Barre where she can combine her passion for dance and fitness. She now works as a real estate fund accountant at USAA Real Estate. Her hobbies include skiing, going to theme parks, reading books, and spending time with her husband, Stephen and her puppy, Luna.

Favorite Move: 100’s (any core work really!)

Kara H.

Kara has been dancing since the age of 4 and received her Bachelors in Dance Management from Oklahoma City University. She fell in love with Smart Barre after first being introduced in 2016 by a fellow dancer. Kara is thrilled to be able to incorporate her dance background with her passion for fitness to help clients strengthen and lengthen while having fun doing it!

Katie R.

Katie has been in the fitness industry since 2010. She has a diversified background having taught: Zumba, cycling and boot camps. Katie has a deep passion for San Antonio and its culture and actually served as Miss Fiesta San Antonio in 2012 as well as Miss Bexar County in 2014. She currently works as the Partnerships Coordinator for Northside Independent School District and the Northside Education Foundation.

Favorite Move: Planks- they engage the whole body when done correctly!

Favorite Cue: “Pull your belly button in and keep your core tight!” This is important for every move in class.

Lauren W.

Lauren, a San Antonio native, has been a Smart Barre instructor since 2017. With a background in collegiate athletics at The University of Incarnate Word and a passion for fitness, she fell in love with how differently Smart Barre compared to any other type of exercise. She’s always excited to teach and encourage her clients in their health and fitness journey. Lauren also currently works as a Business Development Consultant at Rackspace.

Lauren Y.

Lauren started dance at age two and has an extensive background in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop and cheerleading. From San Antonio, she graduated from St. Mary’s University with a BA in Education and is now a middle school dance teacher for Northside ISD. Her passion for dance found her drawn to the Smart Barre technique. She enjoys having the opportunity to share her love for our method with the Smart Barre community.

Favorite Move: Anything in chair position

Favorite Cue: “Breathe through the burn, keep lifting up through your core!”

Leesa K.

Leesa has been a Smart Barre instructor since October 2016. Originally from Great Falls, Virginia, she moved to San Antonio in 2008 to pursue her Bachelor’s in Business Marketing from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She has been dancing since the age of 5, with a strong background in ballet and jazz. She is passionate about group fitness and felt right at home with the Smart Barre method. When Leesa is not at the Barre, she is working in Marketing & Sales for Joshua Creek Ranch.

Favorite Move: Wide Second with the Playground Ball! I love incorporating smart V to lunges while in wide second! You can feel all your muscles engaging while holding the ball!

Favorite Cue: “Sink one inch lower, stay in your working zone!”

Mariell T. | Studio Manager

Doing pliés at the barre since the age of three, Mariell’s passion for music and dance is what attracted her to the fitness world. Born and raised in Laredo, TX she says her dance studio was like a second home. She has been a part of the San Antonio fitness community since 2013 with an additional background in Pilates and spin. She brings her positive and upbeat attitude into every class and loves helping clients reach their fitness goals.

Favorite Move: Wide Second-  because it sculpts the inner thighs as well as tones the gluteus minimus to achieve lean legs like a dancer, and what girl doesn’t want that?

Favorite Cue: “Find that burn!”

Roque S. | Director of Training

Roque, a mom to two little ones, has been a Smart Barre instructor for over 4 years. In addition to being a Master Trainer, she serves as our Director of Training for Smart Barre San Antonio. A former ballet dancer with a general love for fitness and healthy living, she is passionate about sharing the Smart Barre technique and its transformative benefits with others.

Favorite Move: C-Curl because of how effective it is for strengthening & flattening the lower abdomen.

Favorite Cue: “Take a breath in & out, breathe through that burn!”

Shelby S.

Shelby found her calling for fitness/barre a little over 3 years ago when she took her first Smart Barre class. Over the years her passion has continued to grow with her experience. She hopes to keep moving towards her certifications in Yoga, Personal Training, and Pilates.

Favorite Move: Thigh Dancing

Siobhan O.

Siobhan started working at Smart Barre in February of 2017 and became an instructor in August of that same year. She loves how teaching at Smart Barre allows her to apply principles she learned from years of dance training and her Kinesiology studies. Siobhan moved to San Antonio in 2011 and quickly fell in love with the city and its people. She attended the University of the Incarnate Word and received her Bachelors degree in 2017. When she isn’t at the Barre, she might be hanging out with pets, watching reality TV, or checking out a concert. She thoroughly enjoys being part of the Smart Barre community and is always learning from her clients and fellow SB team members!

Stephanie R.

Stephanie is a fitness enthusiast with over 30 years of experience in the group fitness industry.  She is ACE Group Fitness Certified, Lagree Fitness Certified and a member of the Yoga Alliance as a 200hr RYT.  Stephanie strives to make every class challenging while keeping things simple, fun and welcoming for all fitness levels.

Whitney L.

Whitney started dancing at age 3 and grew up performing and choreographing on her small town stage in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. In college she performed with a professional training company and received her Dance minor from the University of Colorado at Boulder. After college, Whitney moved to Los Angeles and remained focused on maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle, which naturally fueled her love for barre, Pilates and yoga. Finding herself in Smart Barre upon her move to Texas felt right at home and she loves being able to blend her passion for music and dance with fitness.
